Community – “a feeling of fellowship with others, as a result of sharing common attitudes, interests, and goals.”
Humanity – “the human race; human beings collectively.”
I know this may be a cynical or a biased opinion. Jaded is probably better word.
Every time something happens, a natural or manmade disaster, these two words pop up when there is a push to provide help or assistance but for myself they have lost their true meanings. There is always a cry for “others” to step up and save the day.
Yet, when the immediate threat or aftermath is over, nothing is heard of these tragedies again, there is no follow up or continuing support. There are no changes made. Just reminders when the next one occurs.
It is this endless cycle where humanity and community are all but forgotten. We go about our daily lives and it fades from memory. There is sometimes a few that are still willing to continue that support but then in wanes.
If there was true community and humanity towards others, then life would be better for all and it would not depend on where you live, what you look like, who you love, what you worship, or your political beliefs.
True humanity is giving of yourself without expectations of anything in return.
True community is acceptance of everyone and making life better for all.
In the end, we are all just human beings, living on this big rock floating in the universe, just trying to survive either with a purpose or not.
In the end, we cannot take anything with us, and every individual leaves some sort of legacy behind for those yet to come whether it is family generations or the places we live in.
This is just my opinion though and my life experience has altered my trust in others but it has not kept me from continuing to try.
Hope, faith, and belief in the greater good and purpose will always be there.
