Acrostic Poem – Eclipse

4/16/2024

12:24 am

I entered a recent challenge based on an acrostic poem using the word “Eclipse” in response to the recent total eclipse event. The poetry had to be relevant to the definition of the word. Acrostic is a poem in which the first letter of each new line spells out a word, message or the alphabet.

The first poem I wrote, well was frankly a little dark. My youngest son thought so as well after he read it.

I decided to submit both a light and dark version of the poem as it related to the definition of eclipse.

I also found out during this research into the definition that eclipse is also the word to describe when the markings on a bird’s plumage are obscured during the molting process.

I learn something new every day. 🙂

Here are copies of my entries.

The dark version.

“Humanity’s fate.” by SE Allen

Eden was no more.

Capitalism and power had begun to wage a war.

Lives struggling daily.

Impervious and sometimes shady.

People being awakened.

Sensibilities were numbed.

Eclipsed in the pursuit of freedom

The light version.

“Humanity’s destiny.” by SE Allen

Expectations were surpassed.

Community and oneness at last.

Living life was all that mattered.

Impalpable essence was enamored.

People were seen and heard.

Social issues found absolution.

Exceeded in the pursuit of freedom.

Thank you for stopping by.

Have a wonderful week!

Peace, love, happiness, and good vibes, always!
