I sometimes get these random inspirations for a poem and I have learned to just put it down on paper. I never used to do that.
The odd thing is how easily the ideas come to me and all I have to do is edit the word choices somewhat.
This happened today in the grocery store parking lot while I was waiting for my son.
This is today’s random poem.

Parking Lot by Suzanne Allen
Sounds of wheels on the pavement
Squeaky brakes, grinding to a halt
Music blares from the windows
Searching for a spot
Voices carry; laughter, anger, and chit chat
People in a rush
Scurry like mice
The hardworking class
Odors waft through the air
Oil leaks, fuel, perfume, and trash in a bin
People losing the rat race
Hoping for a win
Sights and sound of the parking lot
Evening rush, same every where
Cities, small towns, and foreign lands
You, me, this what we share
When all is quiet, the day winds down
We are the same; man, woman, child
Capitalist consumers of goods
No longer fending in the wild
