A good question “How do you express your gratitude?” for myself it is not necessarily an action and sometimes not a feeling but I believe it is more in the character of the person.
I have many things to be appreciative for in my life, my family is at the top of that list. The life I have lived, the experiences I have had, the people I have met, the places I have been, and the knowledge I have gained or shared are the additions to that gratefulness.
If a person’s character has been built upon a foundation of trauma, such as myself, words can never truly express the gratitude one feel’s for being able to live a peaceful life.
A person’s character recognizes not only the magnitude of things but also sees the little things as important as well. It is like putting together a puzzle and getting that very last piece into place to complete it. It is having a sense of accomplishment, a sense of success, and knowing you are the one who put in the effort. Your hard work paid off. It is not necessarily shared with others, it is a sense of self.
I am fortunate to not have been too jaded as a survivor of trauma inflicted by others but still able to see the goodness in humanity. Understanding what others may be going through. Hoping for the best. Knowing that I am not owed anything in this life. We earn what we keep. We learn as we go.
I express gratitude in the care I have for others. Whether that is a listening ear, a shoulder to cry on, giving advice, extending a hand in friendship, or showing up when needed, especially for those that showed me the same. It is rare but it occasionally happens.
I carry myself the best way I know how with honesty and integrity.
Being the best version that I can be.
Thank you so much for stopping by.
Have a wonderful week!
Peace, love, happiness, and good vibes, always!
