Seeking Creative Vibes

Daily writing prompt
What was the last thing you searched for online? Why were you looking for it?

It is another weekend but for me it is like any other day.

I woke up without an alarm being set, checked my messages, made coffee, and ate a quick bite for breakfast. This is how most of my days begin with an occasional 35 to 45 minute walk on my treadmill to get the day going.

It has been a while since my last blog post and last daily writing prompt.

The last thing I searched online? Well, since most of my days are dedicated to finding inspiration for my creative vibes, I was seeking information about watercolors.

It wasn’t just seeking out supplies or techniques, I have started diving into learning as much as I can about art, different types of mediums, art supplies, and finding alternatives.

This week was dedicated to learning about how to make my own watercolors.

I first found an artist on YouTube who had a good recipe for making a binder and how to create your own watercolors. I will put a link to her channel at the end of this post.

I made the binder last month and it has been sitting on my art desk. I wanted to test whether it would hold up and to ensure that it would not mildew. It held up really well.

The last couple of days was learning how to mix the binder with the mica powders I had from a resin kit that I have yet to still attempt. I also learned the mulling process and utilized the new small watercolor making kit I purchased last month after making the binder.

I decided to go with a smaller kit because the dexterity and nimbleness of my hands and fingers are less than ideal anymore. Overuse and fatigue happens quickly depending on the repetitive motion. I also have to remember to not overdo it otherwise it still triggers tremors in my arm.

I am now waiting for the watercolors to dry and then test them out again. The paint swatches I made while creating the colors have nice colors and adhered well to the paper.

I also attempted making some organic watercolors utilizing spices and herbs from my pantry. They smelled wonderful combined with the clove oil in the binder. A few of the spices were rather grainy but created an interesting texture.

Nowadays, my search on the social media platforms, the internet, and still my local library are about learning and enhancing my creative skills. Living my daily life to the fullest and continuing the pursuit of knowledge.

After I make a few more batches of different colors utilizing other mica powder alternatives then I will seek out information on a different medium or technique.

I still work on my other art projects such as beaded jewelry, diamond art painting, coloring books, drawing, and writing. Just taking it easy and keeping my days busy.

Thank you for stopping by.

Have a wonderful week!

Peace, love, happiness, and good vibes, always!

Suzanne
