On September 22, 2025, I hit a milestone of 10,000 views on my blog. It was exciting to say the least.
On October 20, 2025, I hit another milestone, the 10 year anniversary of this blog. Who would have thought that I would still be at this?
From that humble first beginnings writing about cake decorating, competitions, and the reason for starting the blog in 2015.
The only two writings I accomplished for 2015, it garnered no views, no likes, and no follows. Then in April 2016, I wrote a few more.
“Cake Competitions and Classes”
“Learning to Grow”
“Update to Soda Cakes”
“So much for consistency”
Still no views, no likes, and no follows but it was the beginning of increasing how much I wrote. I continued writing about cake decorating but then a shift in the topics I wrote about started to occur in 2017.
In total, from 2015 to 2016 the 6 short writings averaged less than 600 words per post and the total words written was 5,962.
Then in 2017 that changed dramatically, I wrote 77 posts in total, received 62 likes, and had 12 comments. The average post contained 800 words and the total word count for the year was 61,562. I had finally found my writing voice.
Over the next several years I started setting some writing goals not only for the blog but for me personally.
I started my attempts at writing poetry, different writing techniques, even though I still do not understand Haiku. I learned what a villanelle was and started entering online writing competitions. I even started making attempts at drafting some short stories. I still have a few on which I am still working.
Every anniversary date I have written what my overall stats are for that year and here is the total from the first post in 2015 to the most recent:
Total views: 10,070
Visitors : 6,347
Total Likes: 2,034
Total Subscribers: 278
Total Comments: 98
Total Posts: 413
Total Words: 413,172
Highest word count and year : 91,399 words in 2022
Highest number of posts and year: 78 posts in 2023
One of the things I like the most when I am looking at my stats is the map that shows where the views are coming from. As of this writing I have had visitors (and possibly bots 😀 ) from 95 countries.

Not bad for this Oklahoma girl from the United States. 😉
Today, I republished a few posts that garnered quite an interest not only in 2017 when they were first published but for some reason in September 2022 as well. Whoever was searching my blog during September 2022 was only looking at the posts for 2017. I assume that these posts are what they were looking for because I had removed them previously. I also republished a related piece I wrote September of 2022.
“Connection and the Human Heart”
“Love Letters”
“Perceptions – Reality or Fantasy?”
“What do I call this? Is this just a fling, a relationship, or something more?”
Overall these dates had the highest views, September 1st to 30th, 2022 with 282 views while July 1st to 31st, 2025 had 779 views.

There was a tie for the blog posts with the most comments. “Something Different – Writing Prompts” had 4 comments and “Long, boring marriage – Last words from beyond the grave” also had 4 comments.
The most viewed posts in each year were:
2016 – “Competition: Against others and one’s own self”
2017 – “Love Letters”
2018 – “4 a.m. thoughts…I’m not a damsel in distress.”
2019 – “Independence Day – Defining America” – (Also reposted on July 4th, 2025)
2020 – “Romantic Relationships – Are they really worth it?”
2021 – “Prologue: Pandemic and The Artist Way”
2022 – “9/11 – A change to perspective”
2023 – “Creative Vibes”
2024 – “Don’t sweat the small stuff”
2025 – “Emotional: Intelligence or Regulation?”
It definitely has been a bittersweet journey thus far.
I have slowly developed my writing over the years, set some lofty goals, and have found a safe place for my thoughts to roam.
As I finish up the rest of this year, I will also be determining what my next writing goals will be as well as making some changes to the blog. It is an undertaking that will hopefully be completed before we start a new year. We will just have to wait and see.
Thank you so much for you support, your comments, your likes, and joining me on this journey.
Have a wonderful week!
Happy writing!
Peace, love, happiness, and good vibes, always!
Suzanne
